After purchasing the coins they are hand cut with a standard jewelers saw. Depending on the detail that is being cut and the thickness and type of metal of the coin this can take anywhere from a half an hour to all day per coin. Then the coins are highly polished and cleaned in preparation for the gold process. Each coin is then Electrocleaned, copper plated, nickel plated, and then masked for the two tone affect. They are then selectively layered in 24 karat gold. The gold solution used has nickel and cobalt added to insure a hard and long lasting finish. The coins are then stripped of the masking and polished once again. The end product is a beautifully cut, two toned coin, ready to be worn and admired by everyone. |
